Individualized, Evidence-Based Therapy for Adolescents and Adults

Every person who walks into therapy brings a different story, a different set of goals, and a different life to build. The services at B.L. Meader LCSW-C Therapy are designed to meet you where you are — with specialized expertise, a warm approach, and treatment plans that fit your actual life.

Conditions Treated

ADHD in Adolescents and Adults

ADHD is the core specialty of this practice. Whether you have been recently diagnosed or have been living with ADHD for years, therapy can help you build the skills and self-understanding to navigate it more effectively.

Treatment often addresses:

Anxiety Disorders

Therapy for generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, and the persistent worry that gets in the way of sleep, focus, and relationships. Using CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches, clients learn to identify anxious thought patterns, build grounding skills, and respond to anxiety in healthier ways.

Depression and Mood Disorders

Support for clients experiencing depression, low mood, and mood fluctuations, whether these are long-standing or situational. Treatment focuses on understanding what is driving the mood symptoms, rebuilding motivation and routines, and developing tools that make day-to-day life feel more livable.

ADHD with Co-Occurring Conditions

Many of the clients seen here have ADHD alongside other diagnoses — anxiety, depression, mood disorders, or autism spectrum traits. These overlapping presentations require a clinician who understands how the conditions interact. Briana has spent years working with exactly this population and tailors treatment to address the whole clinical picture.

Emotional Regulation Challenges

For clients who struggle with intense emotional reactions or difficulty tolerating distress, DBT skills can be powerfully helpful. Briana is intensively trained in DBT and regularly integrates DBT skills into her work with both teens and adults.

Trauma-Related Symptoms

For clients whose anxiety, depression, or mood symptoms are rooted in past trauma, Briana brings specialized postgraduate training in trauma treatment and uses a trauma-informed approach across her clinical work.

Therapeutic Approaches

Good therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Briana draws from several evidence-based modalities and tailors the approach to each client’s goals, age, and learning style.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps clients identify and shift the thoughts and core beliefs that drive unhelpful feelings and behaviors. Briana has completed more than 50 hours of training at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia and integrates CBT tools throughout her work — especially for clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and negative self-talk.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills

DBT teaches concrete skills in four areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills are especially helpful for clients who feel overwhelmed by strong emotions or who react in ways they later regret. Briana has completed 120+ hours of DBT training, including the 65-hour DBT Intensive Plus program through Dr. Marsha Linehan’s training institute.

Mindfulness- Based Techniques

Mindfulness practices are woven into sessions to help clients build a sense of calm, safety, and present-moment awareness — a foundation that makes every other tool in therapy work more effectively.

Motivational Interviewing

A collaborative, client-centered approach that helps people move through ambivalence and commit to the changes they actually want. Briana holds a 45-hour postgraduate certificate in Motivational Interviewing from the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

ADHD Coaching Integrated into Therapy

When clinically appropriate, Briana blends therapy with coaching techniques tailored to ADHD — practical strategies for managing time, tasks, transitions, and the day-to-day executive functioning challenges that therapy alone may not fully address.

Reframing and Strength-Based Work

Clients are helped to see their challenges from a more balanced, often more compassionate angle — so that setbacks do not define them and progress becomes easier to notice and build on.

Populations Served

Adolescents (Ages 13+)

Teenagers facing ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation challenges, school struggles, or the ordinary-but-hard work of growing up. Briana has spent her entire career working with adolescents and relates to them easily. Parents are included in treatment when clinically appropriate, so the whole family can be part of the growth.

Young Adults and College Students

Young adults navigating academic demands, identity questions, independence, and mental health symptoms that often emerge or intensify during this life stage. ADHD support for college students is a particular area of strength.

Adults (Up to Age 70)

Adults seeking therapy for ADHD (including late diagnoses), anxiety, depression, relationship stress, work-related burnout, and life transitions. Briana brings empathy, kindness, and a collaborative style to her work with adults.

Parents and Families

When appropriate, Briana involves parents in adolescent treatment so they can better understand their child’s symptoms and become a more positive, reinforcing influence at home.

What to Expect

Session Format

B.L. Meader LCSW-C Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. This model keeps caseloads manageable and sessions unhurried — and protects the therapeutic relationship from the administrative intrusions that insurance paneling can introduce.

In-Person and Telehealth

Sessions can be scheduled in person at the Silver Spring, Maryland office, or via secure video telehealth. Briana is licensed to provide telehealth to clients physically located in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, D.C.

Collaborative Goal-Setting

Your first few sessions focus on understanding your history, current concerns, and what you want therapy to help you accomplish. From there, you and Briana build a treatment plan together — one that is designed to actually get you closer to the goals you care about.

Fees and Insurance

B.L. Meader LCSW-C Therapy, LLC is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. Clients pay directly for sessions and may submit a superbill to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on their plan’s benefits.

This structure allows Briana to provide unhurried, individualized care without the limitations insurance networks often impose. Please contact the practice directly for current session fees and to discuss payment options.
