How It Works

What to Have Ready for Your First Session

Payment & Insurance

B.L. Meader LCSW-C Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network practice.
This model keeps caseloads manageable and sessions unhurried, and it protects the therapeutic relationship from the administrative burdens that insurance paneling introduces.

Do you accept insurance?

This is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. Clients do not bill insurance directly through this office. Many clients with out-of-network mental health benefits are eligible for partial reimbursement from their insurance carrier

Clients pay for sessions at the time of service. On request, a monthly superbill is provided containing the information needed to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement depends on the specifics of your plan — please contact your insurance carrier to confirm your benefits.

Credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, and other standard payment methods are accepted. Please contact the practice directly for current rates and payment details.

A limited number of discounted rates may be available depending on clinical fit and caseload. Please ask about availability during your initial consultation.

Consider asking: Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What percentage of out-of-network mental health services does my plan cover? Do I have an out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I already met this year? Is there a limit to the number of covered sessions per year? How do I submit a superbill, and what is the typical reimbursement timeline?

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule my first appointment?

New clients start with a brief (15-minute) phone consultation. Call (443) 827-3599 or email info@blmeadertherapy.com to request one. Briana personally responds to every inquiry.

The first session focuses on understanding your history, current concerns, and what you hope to get from therapy. There is no pressure to have everything figured out — you and Briana will sort through it together.

Both. Sessions can be held in person at the Silver Spring, Maryland office or via secure video telehealth. Briana is licensed to provide telehealth to clients physically located in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, D.C. Many clients use a combination of the two.

No. As a licensed clinical social worker, Briana provides psychotherapy but does not prescribe medication. If medication evaluation is recommended, she can help coordinate with a psychiatrist or prescribing provider.

That depends on your goals and what you are working on. Some clients meet for a few months of focused work; others stay in therapy longer for ongoing support. This is something you and Briana will discuss together and revisit over time.

Yes. When clinically appropriate, Briana involves parents so they can better understand their teen’s experience and become a more positive, reinforcing influence at home.

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with important legal and ethical exceptions (for example, situations involving safety concerns or certain court orders). These limits are reviewed during your first session and are outlined in the informed consent paperwork.

Current session fees are $350 for a 90-minute intake session, $250 for a 60-minute session, $225 for a 45-minute session, and $140 for a 30-minute session. Debit/credit cards and HSA/FSA cards are accepted. Payment is collected at the time of service through the practice’s secure online medical record.

Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice. A $75 cancellation/no-show fee applies if a session is missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice. If the session can be rescheduled within 7 days, the fee is waived. The fee may also be waived at the clinician’s discretion in cases of emergency or unforeseen circumstances.
